Alabama Baseball vs Troy Recap

By: Tatumn Vaught on April 24, 2018

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The Trojans of Troy University traveled to Tuscaloosa on Tuesday night to play the Tide in a mid-week matchup that would revive Alabama from their series loss against Auburn this past weekend. The game began at 6 p.m. and took the Tide to a record of 23-20 overall after their 4-3 win.

The Tide started with right-hand pitcher Brock Love, a sophomore from Gadsden, Alabama, who started the first inning with a 1-2-3 out streak. Cobie Vance also got a double to left-center in the bottom of the first, Avant with a three-run homer, and Manning with an RBI-single, pushing an early momentum for the Tide and taking the score 4-0. Switching pitchers quickly, Mason Duke comes in at the top of the second to see what the Trojans have behind the plate. They score one in the second, striving for some competition against Alabama. The pace slowed down a bit and there was a constant change of pitchers, including Cameron, Duarte, and Gardner, until the bottom of the eighth where a bad pitch behind the catcher let one run in by Troy. They also hit a far fly to right field, taking the score to 4-3. To finish off the game, Trousdale hit a double, and Praytor a single, with two-outs clenching the game for the Tide, with a final score of 4-3 at The Joe on Tuesday night.

Coming up next, Alabama plays Arkansas this weekend for a series on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Fayetteville, Arkansas to take the 7th ranked Razorbacks down. The game is also available on SEC Network+ or with constant Twitter updates at @AlabamaBSB.
