High School

Senior Thesis

Senior year of high school, my class was required to research a specific topic all year and then write a 20 pg. thesis on it, presenting claims and questioning existing research. I chose a topic regarding sports diplomacy and had to present my findings in front of a crowd and panel of professionals in the field, while answering questions on it.

WCDS Yearbook

I was the Sports Editor for two years and Editor-In-Chief of my high school yearbook. I had to learn the Edesign program, edit through Photoshop while approving photos and copy, and create a final book that highlighted all school events for the year. I got great journalism experience and built a media foundation for college.

Girl Scouts

I began Girl Scouts as a Daisy at the age of five and ended my senior year of high school as a Gold Award recipient. I constructed a merchandise store in my high school for my gold project, in order to boost school spirit and raise funds for the athletic program, which I was very involved in and passionate about. My journey in Girl Scouts taught me numerous life lessons and to always be prepared!

Key Club
Student Government

I was the President of our school's Key Club, an organization focused on community service through leadership and responsibility. As President, I held many fundraising events, such as a canned food drive and volunteer day at the local food bank, a book drive for Veterans and their children, raised over $1000 for breast cancer research through a dodgeball tournament, and so much more. I took my title very seriously and held events with record-breaking attendance. I also hosted annual school events such as the WCDS Bonfire and created new traditions. I'm grateful for my title and had great members of office to help make our ideas come to life for the school.

Throughout my time at WCDS, I had the pleasure of representing my grade as our class representative for several years. I was most impactful in the 11th grade, creating events and fundraisers for my class and listening to their concerns that I'd share with the Student Government board. I enjoyed this leadership position early on in life and it helped me with my public speaking skills and event planning.

Girl-Up, United Nations Foundation
Envision Presidential Inauguration Leadership Summit

I was the secretary for Girl-Up, a club centered around youth female leadership and accelerating social change globally. One of my close friends brought the chapter to our school and believed that organizing leadership opportunities would activate the girls in our school to step up and lead. We raised money for the foundation and had meetings each week.

I was nominated by a teacher to join the Envision Experience program, a company that provides students with traveling opportunities that help them to discover their passions and potential and how they can use their leadership skills to make a difference. I attended the Envision Presidental Inauguration Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. in 2016 and watched President Trump be inaugurated at the U.S. Capitol Building. We had a very busy schedule each day for a week, visiting places like the Natural History Museum, attending group classes to enhance our leadership skills, and even having a ball in the Air & Space museum. I even had the chance to ask Tucker Carlson a question in a pannel and meet him! I'd highly recommend this program and gained a lot from the experience.

Penn State College of Communications Broadcast Journalism Camp

I was accepted into the PSU Broadcast Journalism Camp the summer after my junior year. This was my very first experience learning what the field was all about and getting to practice all the main components of news and creative media. This was the most memorable and educational camp and really what made me realize I really did want to pursue this specific career. I met professionals and students that I still talkto today!

University of Virginia Leadership on the Lawn Program

I was accepted into this prestigious leadership camp at UVA the summer after my sophomore year. Thousands of students from around the country gathered together to learn specifics of how to become a great leader through workshops, group activities, and community service in the area. I met so many inspiring people and speakers who taught me how to stand-out as an impactful leader at a young age. I still use tactics I was taught in this camp in my every day life.

Virginia and National Junior Classical League

Every winter and summer from 2012-2015 I attended the Virginia & National Junior Classical League conventions dedicated to the language and culture of ancient Greece and Rome. I took Latin in school for four years, making me eligible to attend the conventions each year. The state conventions were held in our capital Richmond, while the national conventions were hosted at a different college each summer. I stayed for a week at Wake Forest in North Carolina, Emory University in Atlanta, UNLV in Las Vegas, and Trinity in San Antonio, Texas. At these conventions, we took subject-specific tests, created art projects, performed monologues in Latin, competed in athletic events, and so much more. This convention gave us the opportunity to make friends from around the country while learning and appreciating the "dead language." I'm forever grateful my school was dedicated to attending and excelling at these conventions and all the memories I gained from them.

Meadowbrook Farm Equestrian Center

My family owns a large farm in Huntly, VA and in addition to cattle, we ran an equestrian center out of the horse barn for several years. During the summers and some evenings, I was a groomer and farm hand, helping with the care and upkeep of the horses and barn. We also held camps every summer for young kids. I would help staff and teach the essentials of equestrian and horse care. Once I got older, I helped bookkeep for the office as well. This was a great first job and taught me a lot about hard work. I've always been passionate about animals and this was a great way to work with horses and learn a lot about the sport of equestrian as well.

WCDS Athletics Assistant

Since I was so actively involved in sports during my time at WCDS, my athletic director asked me to be his assistant for several years. I assisted him with the set-up of events, facility maintenance, concessions, ticket sales, and much more. These duties had to be done during my free time and while participating in sports, since I was so active in athletics. Although we were a small school, this position held many responsibilities and allowed me to gain experience in sports management at a young age.
