TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- On Tuesday night at 6 p.m., the Samford Bulldogs visited Tuscaloosa coming in with a 23-14 record, 10-2 in the conference, and won the game at The Joe 6-0. Currently, the Bulldogs are on a 13 game winning streak, including beating Mercer in a series last week, with experience on their side. Casey Dunn, Samford’s head coach, continues with his 14th season with the team and 430 wins for Bulldog Baseball. They will be leading off the game with Hamp Skinner, a lefty with sex starts and a 5.16 ERA.
While the Tide had a great start, with Mason Duke pitching a strike the first pitch of the game on his fourth time starting on the mound. Samford quickly caught speed, scoring their first two-run at the top of the first. A wild pitching error allowed another run into home for the Bulldogs at the top of the third and David Vainer is subbed in as the new pitcher for the Tide and gets them back on track, until a home run from Solo for Samford puts them up 4-0 and fast runners in the top of the ninth, the Dogs are up 6-0. Despite great hits from Manning and a variety of pitching techniques, Samford took the win of the ball game.
The Tide plays Alcorn State tomorrow, Wednesday, April 18th at 6 p.m. at The Joe, and it will also be available for viewing on SEC Network or 102.9 FM radio.
